PR Nigeria

The Creative Colony Project, a visionary organization known for its impactful community initiatives, recently launched the Eco Art Project, a powerful initiative that combines art and environmental advocacy. In partnership with Artzmania and United Way Greater Nigeria, the project took place in the vibrant communities of Mushin and Makoko, Lagos.

Turning Trash into Treasure

The Eco Art Project was designed to inspire children by teaching them to turn everyday waste into beautiful works of art. This initiative wasn’t just about art—it was about educating the next generation on the importance of recycling and environmental stewardship. The children worked on a large canvas featuring illustrations of modern-day heroes, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tunde Onakoya of the Chess in Slum Foundation, and world record holder Tobi Amusan. Utilizing waste materials like biscuit wrappers and cardboard, these young artists brought their heroes to life in a visually stunning and eco-friendly manner.

Despite facing challenges, the event was a resounding success, filled with fun, learning, and inspiration.  Held over two days at Ilupeju Senior Secondary School in Mushin and during a Children’s Day celebration at Mawumaduka Orphanage in Makoko. As a result, the project provided a memorable experience for the children.

Collaboration and Support

The success of the Eco Art Project is a testament to the power of collaboration. The Creative Colony Project team worked tirelessly to create a memorable experience for the children, with significant support from their partners. Artzmania, a key sponsor, provided all the necessary art materials, while United Way Greater Nigeria played a crucial role in ensuring the project’s success. Special thanks are also due to Honourable Rasaq, Chairman of Odi-Olowo LCDA, for attending the Mushin outreach, and to outreach coordinators Progress Giwa and Fred Nwazu, whose guidance was invaluable in the children’s artistic endeavours.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Creativity.

As a testament to its commitment to promoting sustainability in Africa, the Creative Colony Project remains dedicated to creative development and environmental advocacy. The project encourages individuals and organizations to join the movement by recycling and taking steps to protect our planet.

The Eco Art Project is a shining example of how art can be a catalyst for change, inspiring a new generation of environmental stewards. By empowering children to become active participants in creating a sustainable future, the project has left a lasting legacy that will continue to resonate for years to come.

As an organization that values creative development, the Creative Colony Project looks forward to partnering with more organizations to continue its mission. They urge all Nigerians to remember the importance of recycling and to contribute to saving our planet.
